Born in Istanbul (Turkey), Behcet Caykara’s interest in photography (particularly street photography, documentary photography and architectural photography) started in 2010 when he was working in Prague (Czech Republic) as an engineer.
A self-taught photographer, Behcet aims to produce eligible, storytelling photographic images. He likes capturing “the moments”, spontaneous scenes about everyday life of urban people, mostly unpredictable, sometimes absurd to show them in a way mostly combined with humor and irony from his perspective with a -mostly- entertaining style.
His general approach is to present the photographs as they were taken as much as possible without any intervention or manipulation.
Most of his photographs are placed in a context outside of time and place to make a sense of timelessness for viewer, it is not important at all where and when they were taken.
His themes may contain witty visuals, pretty weird, illogical events, featuring absurd or goofy scenes (without exploiting or humiliating the subjects) as well as genuine emotional moments, hard contrasts, harsh social realities interesting incidents and other peculiarities of random events we came across every day in the streets.
Some of his photos has been shown (as video presentation) at Photo Istanbul photography fair in 2016 in a selection of works done by a group of photographers for a documentary photography workshop conducted at Koda Photo Collective (Izmir-Turkey).
Also, some of his architectural photos are published on some websites including Emre Arolat Architecture website (photos for Ege Perla,a mix used project)
He is currently living in Istanbul and working on various art & photography projects in different themes/contexts intending to publish or exhibit them in the near future.
